WEB GEMS- Bot 7th: Doug Mientkiewicz robbed David Newhan of a base hit.
Carlos Zambrano pitched 9 strong innings and Orlando Hudson homered as the
Dublin Pubcrawlers defeated the Tampico Stogies by a score of 4 to 1 at the
ballpark.
Dublin had the winning rally in the top of the 8th inning with 2 runs
utilizing 4 base hits. After an out was recorded, Corey Koskie initiated the
scoring spurt when he laced a single. Koskie got a great jump and stole
second easily. Hudson then stroked a one-base hit. Hudson took second on
the throw. Mike Redmond came up and he was walked intentionally. Laynce Nix
stepped into the box and ripped a base-knock driving in a run. Nix took
second on the throw. Doug Mientkiewicz kept the rally going and lined a
base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. Dublin managed 11 in their
victory.
Zambrano(6-4), allowing 1 run for the game, picked up the victory. The losing
pitcher was Ben Sheets(7-7). He allowed 3 runs and 7 hits in 7 and 2/3
innings.
Mike Aldrich lamented, 'Zambrano was really aggressive today. He kept coming
after our hitters. Heck, why not. he kept sitting our guys down one after
another - like so many bowling pins!'
